I listen to a lot of music.
Ten years ago today I started tracking the music I listen to on my iPod, phone, and computers using Last.fm (originally AudioScrobbler). I haven't been able to track absolutely everything I listened to (e.g. CDs played in the car), but here I am 123,593 songs played later and it's pretty interesting to look back at my listening habits.
If someone were to ask me to describe myself, I think the top bands I've listened to over the last 10 years sums me up brilliantly.
I've been fortunate to see 80% of these top 30 in some form or another over the past years. Tomorrow night I'll be front and center to see Howard Jones, the first artist I ever saw play live back in on a rainy Friday night, May 22, 1987.
But the best part of tomorrow night's show is to finally get to see Tom Bailey perform Thompson Twins songs live for the first time in 27 years. I have amazing memories of being 13 years old and playing Ultima III on my Apple IIe for hours while blasting "King For A Day" on my Sony ghetto blaster -- on the exact same desk I'm writing this now, no less.
